What's on in Newcastle - March 28th-30th 2014

I thought it may be helpful to provide a guide to what's on in Newcastle on a week-by-week basis. This post looks at what is taking place during the weekend of March 28th-30th 2014.

I have a relatively quiet one planned this weekend, with a dinner party at a friend's house (who also happens to be a chef) on Saturday and a corporate visit to watch the Newcastle Falcons play on Sunday. I'd imagine that I'll also make a trip somewhere local to watch Newcastle United take on Southampton away on Saturday, as well as fitting in a few schooling sessions with my lovely horse Piper - definitely what weekends are all about!

I hope you find this helpful and please feel free to add any events that I've missed.

Friday 28th March
Calor Latino Salsa Night at La Vina.

Saturday 29th March
Theatre Royal Newcastle - Dance Consortium presents Compagnie Kafig's Boxe Boxe, a breath-taking show which fuses the noble art of Boxing with dance.

Metro Radio Arena - World Championship Boxing - Clash of the Clans.

The Tyneside Cinema Sponsored Film Marathon

Sunday 30th March  (Also Mother's Day)
Newcastle Falcons take on Worcester at home this Sunday at 2pm.

Obviously all events are subject to change.

Burgham Horse Trials March 2014

This weekend sees the first Burgham Horse Trials of 2014 take place and having attended the event on many occasions - and watched my horse compete (pictured) - I would certainly recommend a visit for those looking for an alternative day out.
Burgham Horse Trials 2014

Whether you're a horse rider or not, there's plenty going on, with riders undertaking dressage, showjumping and cross country throughout the day.

There are also catering facilities and trade stands located at the venue and visitors are also able to bring their own lunch or picnics.

Burgham Horse Trails is located just off the A1 between Morpeth and Alnwick. The event runs on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March and entry, which is payable on arrival, costs £10 per car.

The address of the venue is Burgham Park, Morpeth, NE65 9QP.

Unfortunately I'm unable to attend this one but I'd love to hear from anyone who does make a trip to the event!

Kings of Leon St James' Park Newcastle upon Tyne
I spend a lot of time attending concerts and was particularly excited to learn that the Kings of Leon and special guests will be playing at St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, in May this year. Having attended many stadium concerts, and a previous Kings of Leon show, I'm sure this is an event not to be missed.

The concert will take place on Saturday, 31st May 2014 and both standard tickets and hospitality are available. Tickets are priced from £55 and can be bought by clicking here or calling 0871 220 0260.  Hospitality packages are priced from £160 + VAT and include premium seats at the show, a pre-match meal and hospitality bar facilities.

What size Louboutins should I get?

What size Louboutins should I get seems to be a common questions asked by anyone thinking of buying their first pair of Louboutins. Hopefully this post will provide some guidance!

I've just returned from a lovely weekend break in London and whenever I'm visiting I always make a trip to the Christian Louboutin store to see what they have in stock and hopefully make a purchase. I've visited many of their stores in Europe and find that they generally only have limited sizes of their more traditional styles such as Pigalle, Filo and the Simple Pump - the styles that are more my taste.

I happened to be in luck this time and managed to purchase a pair of the black patent Pigalle - I have them in nude and find them to be some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn - I'd definitely recommend them to those looking for something practical but stylish!

So, back on to my point: I'm often asked by friends what size I buy, especially by those who are considering buying online or contacting stores about the sizes available. I thought it may be beneficial to share my experience of sizing in the hope it may provide some guidance to those thinking of purchasing a pair.

Generally, whenever I've bought Louboutins I've gone down by half a size - from a 37 to a 36.5 - and so far this has worked in my favour. I would say that I'm generally a 37 (4) however I do have one smaller foot meaning one shoe is always a little looser than the other.

The only style I have found that hasn't fitted this pattern is the Pigalle, where I've had to purchase a 37. All of the other styles I've bought have been 36.5, which I'd guess is down to the size and shape of the shoe.

Most shoes will stretch once worn so if a pair feels very tight it's probably best to go for half a size bigger. Additionally, those which have a gap will only get bigger so that's probably a good indication that a half size smaller is required.

Obviously this is just a guide and everyone's feet are different but hopefully it will provide a little bit of guidance for those unsure of what size they may need. As always, I'm happy to answer any questions so please just leave a comment if you wish to ask anything!
